But this method reached the masses thanks to Jamaican growing enthusiasts at the end of the 20th century, quite recently.

For marijuana enthusiasts who prefer a fast and simple way to achieve results, feminized seeds are the best choice. Planting regular varieties can involve many subtleties and is not suitable for beginners, as it is necessary to recognize and remove male plants in time at the beginning of flowering so that the females are not pollinated. Feminized plants do not have this drawback. You know exactly what sex the bush will be.

Still, it is worth being very cautious and attentive with plants during the growing process, since stressful situations, such as a lack of fertilizer, an incorrect light schedule or humidity, overheating, or pruning, can cause hermaphrodites to appear. In other words, the sex of the final plant is influenced not so much by genetics as by the features of the external environment. If they do appear, they must be removed immediately. This is the only way to preserve the harvest.

How do you choose the right conditions for feminized plants?

First of all, remember that plants are living things, and they need care and attention. If you treat your ward carelessly, the result will not please you. With feminized varieties, we want to be sure that all mature plants during flowering do not contain male chromosomes. To minimize the chances of such a misunderstanding, it is worth paying attention to the following points:

nitrogen fertilizers are best suited for feeding;

air humidity should be sufficient, but not excessive. Do not overdry the air;

overheating of the environment around the plants is completely unacceptable;

16-18 hours of daylight will be optimal during the vegetative stage, and 12/12 during the flowering stage;

use lamps with a blue, cold spectrum.

Advantages and disadvantages of feminized cannabis varieties.

Advantages.

A magnificent and resinous harvest. In general, the quality of the final product is significantly better than that of regular varieties.

Ease and simplicity in achieving results. With ordinary regular marijuana varieties, growers plant twice as many plants as they hope to harvest, taking into account the need to remove male plants. Breeders have solved this problem. Now you have only girls, with no trouble.

Homogeneity, or, in simple terms, similarity. Each bush will grow almost identically: height, buds, quality, everything will be similar.

Resistance to external irritants. Compared with ordinary varieties or clones, feminized plants are genetically stronger and more resistant to pests or diseases.

Disadvantages.

High price. This drawback has a logical explanation: when buying regular seeds, you are guaranteed to get roughly half male plants, which automatically reduces your harvest. In other words, when buying ordinary regular varieties, you are effectively buying about half “defective” material.

Tenderness and capriciousness of the plants. Indeed, stressful conditions, especially overheating or improper lighting, can lead to the appearance of hermaphrodites. Ordinary plants, although they may get sick more often, are nevertheless not prone to changing their sex during growth.
